Cybersecurity Incident Update: September 14, 2023
Pelmorex Corp. is working tirelessly to restore our services to Canadians after experiencing a recent malicious cyber attack. This cyber attack has affected The Weather Network and MétéoMédia weather data systems only. Some services are already up and running and Canadians can also expect to see a steady restoration of more services and weather information.
Keeping Canadians safe and informed is our utmost priority. The push notifications feature on our mobile app, allowing our users to be notified of weather alerts, is currently not restored thus far. We strongly encourage our users to visit Storm Centre if active weather is in their area. Alerts can be found on our Storm Centre page until our push notification functionality is back up and running.
We are committed to providing up-to-date weather information that Canadians have come to know and expect of us. Our digital platforms are now providing updated forecast data.
Operations of the Alert Ready system, of which Pelmorex Corp. is the technical vendor, have not been impacted and continue to work as intended. It is important to note that our Alert Ready technical infrastructure operates separately and as such, authorized government officials have been able to issue alerts as required.
We sincerely apologize for the inconveniences this disruption has caused Canadians. We will continue to provide updates on our progress.
